Lyon, Cottier & Co. began in Sydney in 1873 with premises in Pitt Street. The company specialized in painted schemes & glass, but dealt in wallpapers, furniture, fabrics, lighting and all the elements expected of a major interior decorating firm. Lyon, Cottier & Co. (Later Lyon, Wells, Cottier & Co.) carried out schemes for the General Post Office, Martin Place, Government House, the Domain & a range of domestic commissions.
