amateur caricaturist {or merely collector}, filled an album with caricatures of cricketers, photographs and newspaper clippings in 1930-33 when living in Adelaide (Mortlock ALB B6 8034, purchased from Phillips Auction House, London, 1996). They include Bradman, Jardine, Mossop à la Cubist , Larwood, Stan McCabe, the Nawab of Patandi and various officials; many are autographed. There is no evidence that Murray drew the caricatures herself. They could be by the cricketer and cartoonist Arthur Mailey or by the South Australian Lionel Coventry , who drew many caricatures of cricketers, eg members of A.P. Chapman’s English touring cricket team published in the London Evening Standard in 1928-29, as well as cartoon anthologies.
