Miss M.E. Oddie, was active in the Ballarat Photographic Society in the 1890s including as an office bearer along with Elizabeth Ison Baker. The women exhibited in many of the same competitions including Lands Department Photographic Society exhibition in November 1895 when Idon Baker had first prize and Oddie the second in the women’s class. Miss M.E. Oddie appears related ot James Oddie, businessman and founder of the Ballarat Observatory in 1880s. The Adelaide Advertiser_ Saturday 11 August 1894, p7 noted her visit with Mr Oddie, to the South Australian Photographic Society where the pair presented lunar photographs taken at the Ballarat Observatory. The latter were possibly by Elizabeth Ison Baker then manager of the Observatory following the death of her father astronomer, Captain H E Baker.
