Milena Paplinska completed a five year course in artistic weaving in Zakopane Poland in 1989, in which she studied drawing, painting, textile design and weaving. In 1989-1990 she undertook a Diploma of Primary Teaching (Art) and from 1990 to 1992 Milena lived and worked in Israel. Milena immigrated to Australia in 1994 and began working in the VTW soon afterwards.She has been involved in many significant projects during her time at the Workshop, including the monumental Suns Rising Over Australia Felix design by John Olsen, Sun Over the You Beaut Country also by John Olsen She has also worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra and also the Sydney Opera House tapestry designed by Jorn Utzon for the refurbished interior of the Opera House.
