religious painter, was living in Lonsdale Street, East Melbourne in 1854 when he exhibited four oil paintings at the Melbourne Exhibition. They were Elevation of the Cross , Symbol of the Crucifixion , Emblem of the Odd Fellows Society and Temptation .
