professional photographer and printer, worked as a Melbourne photographer from 1863. He was at 7 Bourke Street East in 1863-64, then in partnership with his younger brother Alfred Winter at 90 Bourke Street East in 1865. They lived with their parents at 172 Latrobe Street, East Melbourne; Richard William was working from this address in 1867 while Alfred tried his luck in Tasmania. Later Richard became a printer at Adelaide, South Australia.
