Seth Birchall was born in Englewood, New Jersey in 1979, and was then whisked across the border into Nyack, New York, before moving to Sydney in late 1987. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) in 2003, Birchall began exhibiting in group exhibitions through out Australia and Asia, as well as participating in a number of awards and prizes. In 2011, Seth went on to complete a Master of Art from the College of Fine Arts, University of NSW.
Seth Birchall held his first solo exhibition, Megadogaus, in 2006 at the Esa Jaske Gallery in Sydney. After this, Birchall continued to participate in numerous group exhibitions, awards and prizes. He held his second solo exhibition Man Crush at the Firstdraft Gallery, Sydney in late 2011. After the success of Man Crush at Firstdraft Gallery, Birchall followed the series with Man Crush II, his third solo exhibition, at Liverpool St Gallery in Sydney in 2012.
Seth Birchall has won the 2011 Winsor & Newton Master of Art Prize, COFA, UNSW; has been highly commended for the 2011 Jenny Birt Award, COFA, UNSW, the 2010 Paddington Art Prize and the 2008 Doug Moran Portrait Prize. He has been a two times finalist of the Brett Whiteley Scholarship in 2005 & 2008 and a finalist for the John Olsen Drawing Prize, NAS in 2001. His work is included in private collections of The Macquarie Group Collection and the St Vincent’s Hospital Collection in Sydney, Australia.
