Seth Birchall, painter, was born in Englewood, New Jersey, in 1979 and migrated to Sydney, Australia in 1987. In 2003, Birchall graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) from the National Art School. In 2009 Birchall undertook a Master of Arts from the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, completing his studies in 2011.

Birchall has held solo exhibitions at Esa Jaske Gallery, Sydney (2006); Firstdraft Gallery, Sydney (2011); and most recently, Liverpool Street Gallery in Sydney (2012), which was titled 'Man Crush II’. He has also featured in a number of group exhibitions at galleries such as Robin Gibson Gallery, Sydney; Blankspace Gallery, Sydney; and at the National Art School. Other group exhibitions include the 'Salon des Refuses’, SH Ervin Gallery; The National Trust, Sydney (2005, 2006); 'Communication Beyond Borders’, The Gallery, Seoul, Korea (2009); and recently 'You Give Good Colour’ curated by Claudia Damichi at Sophie Gannon Gallery, Melbourne (2012).

Birchall was a finalist in the John Olsen Drawing Prize held at the National Art School, Sydney, in 2001 and a finalist in the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship in 2005 and 2008. In addition, he was a finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize in 2008 and a finalist in the Paddington Art Prize in 2008 and 2010 and was awarded Highly Commended in 2010. In 2011, he was a finalist in the Jenny Birt Award, College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales and was awarded Highly Commended. In 2011, he won the Winsor & Newton Master of Art Prize, College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales.

Birchalls’ work is represented in The Macquarie Group Collection, St Vincent’s Hospital Collection, Sydney and also private collections in Australia. Seth Birchall lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
