painter, exhibited two works, The Shamrock and St. George and The Cook, in the 1849 exhibition of the Society for the Promotion of the Fine Arts in Australia. The Sydney Morning Herald reviewer of 2 June 1849 said of The Shamrock and St George: 'we regret this piece is hung all but out of sight, as it appears to us, from the distant inspection allowed, to possess considerable merit’.
