painter, exhibited two works, The Shamrock and St. George and The Cook , in the 1849 exhibition of the Society for the Promotion of the Fine Arts in Australia. The Sydney Morning Herald reviewer of 2 June 1849 said of The Shamrock and St George : 'we regret this piece is hung all but out of sight, as it appears to us, from the distant inspection allowed, to possess considerable merit’.
