Fowler trained at RMIT, then studied industrial design at UNSW. She worked as an interior designer for McConnell, Smith and Johnson in 1970 and worked on the original interiors for the University of Sydney Law School. In 1970 she received the AMPOL Arts Prize. She later relocated to the UK where she was a director of the architectural firm Aukett Fitzroy Robinson in 1992, later working as a consultant, Bennett Interior Design.
