The Day Family started trading in 1964 in Eastbourne in the UK. Harold Day began the gallery with a focus on the Norwich and Suffolk School artists. After many years of trading and publishing books on the subject on British art and the East Anglican School, he passed the business on to his son John. John followed in the gallery direction and now is one of the primary British experts of East Anglican Art. He has been a specialist on the Antiques Road show with his expertise.
Christopher Day another son, began his apprenticeship in the gallery, after learning the ropes he was soon working for himself. In the mid 1970's he made the move to Sydney in Australia. His eye for a good painting soon established his gallery as a leader in Australian art. by the 1990's he had sold paintings to numerous public and private collections Australia wide. His gallery is still going strong after 34 years in business.
Vince Day is Harold's youngest son, after growing up surrounded by his fathers obsession with paintings, drawings and prints, the obsession, much to his mothers dismay has rubbed off. She never liked the clutter!
In 2010 Vince and his wife Helen began trading as Day Fine Art.
