Chris Connell is one of the principals of the Melbourne design studio Chris Connell Design and the co-founder of MAP International Furniture (MAP: Merchants of Australian Product) in 1988. His work includes the South Yarra bistro Caffe e Cucina, interiors for Dinosaur Design and the retailer Calibre, Sydney. His Pepe chair, designed for MAP featured on an Australia Post stamp in 1997. Schiavello acquired MAP in 2013.

Connell designed the G’Day Chair (manufactured in 1988) with Bryan Sayer. The chair is held in the collection of the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, NSW.
