EDWARD WORSLEY is Head of the School of Art and Design. He came to the college with an extensive background in Industrial Design, and the business world. Mr. Worsley studied Industrial Design at [RMIT] and entered the plastics industry as a designer. He also worked on some of the earliest Australian television designs, and continued this practice in Britain in the early 1950’s, mingling this design specialty with radio and product design. He designed exhibition displays for British and Continental contractors, and travelled extensively in Europe at this time. On returning to Australia Edmond Worsley became very active in the progress of the Society of Designers for Industry, and its formation into the Industrial Design Institute of Australia. He has also worked on various committees for the Industrial Design Council of Australia. He established a consultant design practice, working especially in furniture and office planning. Edmond Worsley is a director of a furniture company involved in specialised manufacturing and retailing, and was recently commissioned to complete a survey of overseas trends in merchandising for the industry. He is a tireless innovator, and functions far in the future with his planning for the School of Art and Design.”
