Sculptor, born in Cockatoo, Victoria and trained at the National Gallery School, Melbourne.

Gilbert died in Melbourne in 1925, just before the unveiling of his “Matthew Flinders” sculpture, which is now displayed outside St. Paul’s Cathedral.
