A biennial series of exhibitions of artists’ books organised by Gallery East in Western Australia. Despite the social upheaval, disruption of everyday lives, not least in art schools, and a sclerotic postal service, caused by the pandemic, the high level of representation by leading international and Australian artists working in this field experienced over the last decade was sustained for the 2021 exhibition.

HE | SHE | THEY is a journey into gender identity. The exhibition will explore notions of inclusion and diversity, celebrating the heterogeneity of gender within Western Australian culture and community.
This exhibition presents among the most extensive surveys of contemporary art about gender in Western Australia to date. 37 WA artists explore the theme with performance, painting, photography, sculpture, video and more.

Bunbury Biennale 2019 is a prestigious art exhibition, showcasing the best of contemporary art from around Western Australia. Held every two years, this exhibition occupies the two largest exhibition spaces at the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery.

An initiative of the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Foundation, the award honours the philanthropy of Win Schubert AO (1937-2017) and her extraordinary generosity as a lifelong custodian of Australian photography, art and creativity. It is now also the biggest award in photography for Queensland and second in Australia, acting as a touchstone for contemporary photographic practice nationwide. The award is intentionally left open and not narrowed by theme, encouraging entries from both emerging and established photographers and artists.

“Susanna Castleden was picked from a field of 19 West Australian artists to win the $30,000 2013 Bankwest Art Prize at a ceremony held at Bankwest Place. This year’s judges – Ian Potter Museum of Art director Kelly Gellatly, Art on the Move executive director Paul Thompson and Art Curator for Bankwest Sandra Murray – described the winning work as “the quintessential experience of Australian childhood; camping and caravanning”.
