Cowell was the supervisor of the interior design department of Bebarfalds. In the 1930s, the furniture department provided interior sketch plans & ground plans for interiors under the guidance of Cowell. They also published a residential design book, "Safe Home Planning" in 1927, produced a "Colour Ensemble Furnishing Chart" and hosted a household advice 2KY radio programme from an in-store location.
